Unpolished | Speaking with Presence not Perfomance
UNPOLISHED | Authentic Public speaking Coaching with Presence not Performance
A Six-Week Journey into Speaking with Presence, Not Performance
Unpolished is a six-week 1:1 coaching journey for people who are articulate, capable, and thoughtful — yet feel tight, performative, or disconnected when they speak in rooms that matter.
This is not public speaking training.
It is a return to presence.
How the Six Weeks Work
Each journey is bespoke, but the arc is intentional. We work slowly, relationally, and without force, allowing confidence to emerge as a by-product of self-trust rather than performance.
Week 1 — Arriving
We begin by slowing everything down.
You learn how you currently show up when attention is on you — not to correct it, but to notice it. We establish safety, rhythm, and grounding, so speaking stops feeling like something to survive.
This week is about learning how to stay.
Week 2 — De-programming the Inner Narrator
By this point, a familiar internal voice often becomes audible.
Not a dramatic one — a quiet, constant one.
The voice that says:
-
don’t get it wrong
-
don’t take up too much space
-
don’t be seen before you’re ready
-
you’re not enough yet
We don’t argue with this voice or try to replace it with positivity.
Instead, we explore:
-
when it appears
-
what it’s protecting
-
how it learned to keep you safe
This is where many people realise:
“I’m not afraid of speaking.
I’m afraid of confirming something I already believe about myself.”
Once this is seen, it begins to loosen.
Week 3 — Voice, Embodiment & Identity
Here, we work with how long-held beliefs live in the body.
In breath.
In jaw.
In posture.
In pacing and tone.
Rather than adding technique, we remove interference.
You learn how to:
-
speak without checking yourself
-
pause without apologising
-
let your voice land without proving
Many clients experience a quiet but profound shift here:
“I don’t need to be more.
I need to stop bracing.”
Week 4 — Story & Meaning
We explore how you tell stories when you are no longer trying to impress or protect yourself.
What wants to be said?
What can be left unsaid?
Where does honesty create authority?
You begin to speak from meaning rather than performance.
Week 5 — Speaking in the Room
We bring presence into real contexts:
-
meetings
-
talks
-
presentations
-
speaking to camera
-
conversations that carry weight
The focus is not on doing it “well,” but on staying with yourself while being seen.
Week 6 — Integration
This final week is about sustainability.
You leave knowing:
-
how to return to presence under pressure
-
how to recognise when performance is taking over
-
how to trust your voice without rehearsing your humanity
Unpolished becomes a way of being, not a mode you switch on.
What This Work Gently Dismantles
-
the belief that you must be more to be heard
-
the habit of performing competence
-
the fear of being seen unfinished
-
the internal pressure to get it right
Without force.
Without fixing.
Without pretending.
What This Work Makes Possible
-
speaking as naturally as you do with a close friend
-
confidence rooted in self-trust
-
clarity under pressure
-
authority without armour
-
presence that people can feel
You don’t become louder.
You become more believable.
A Note on Scope
This work is not therapy.
It does not diagnose or pathologise.
It gently removes the pressure to perform an identity that was never required in the first place.

FAQ
Is this for people who are terrified of public speaking?
Yes, and also for people who are competent but disconnected. Fear is often a sign of self-protection, not inability.
Will this help with speaking on video or to camera?
Yes. Many clients come specifically because video feels exposing. We work with presence so speaking to camera feels conversational, not performative.
Do I have to share personal stories?
No. Nothing is forced. Authenticity is about truth, not exposure.
Is this therapy?
No. This is coaching rooted in embodiment and presence. While it can feel deeply relieving, it is not clinical work.
Will I still sound professional?
Yes, but more believable. Presence enhances credibility; it doesn’t diminish it.
Is this suitable for corporate leaders?
Very much so. This work supports leadership presence, clarity, and trust.
What if I don’t know what I want to say yet?
That’s fine. We begin with listening, not content.
Do I need acting experience?
Not at all. Any actor training, if necessary, is used to remove performance, not add it.
