Why bye bye perfect camapign started
A champion of the diversity of thought and a Voice Coach, Ingrid is on a mission to redefine diversity and inclusion and disrupt workforces. To create environments where employees bring their authentic selves to work and their unique voices to the table.
Her Inclusive Leadership Programme combines Neuro-linguistic programming, tools in growth mindset, bias awareness and communication skills. The outcome is an inclusive and collaborative environment as well as increased motivation for employees both at work and in personal lives. Described by Google Campus as a fantastic public speaker she is also on a mission to raise awareness of the bias being perpetuated in Artificial Intelligence. On previous projects she has been featured in the Guardian, has appeared as an expert on Nick-Ferrari's LBC radio show and joined panels on OH TVSkyy 199 alongside MP Tessa Jowell and UK Olympic champion Will Bayley.
The Bye, Bye Perfect Busting Biases campaign, 'Stop, Think and Reconsider,' is to help spot and override the impact of unconscious bias along with implementing a solution through inclusive workforces.
Her Story
Ingrid has what is defined as an Intersectional Identity as she is a woman and a woman of colour. She is also the single mother of a young black boy, which means, she ticks nearly every negative stereotype box that there is. Yet, she loves each box and sees each as a fantastic opportunity to bring a unique perspective to the table.
Nonetheless, through her work at Women With Voices, she is also aware of the impact of stereotypes on self-belief if untackled.
Her solution to bias that exists in the workplace came surprisingly through her son's school. Just before he was about to start his new secondary school the children were visited by a teacher from there. Despite her son achieving the highest grades possible and an impeccable record, often described as a pleasure to teach, he and all the other black boys were placed in a steam lower than those who had scored less. When they refused to move him, she continued to teach hm at home to keep his levels up before eventually moving him to another school. Here, the Headmaster's message was a simple one: We do not label our children.
Here he was in the top cohort of one of London's highest achieving schools. Yet, although her son is was still a minority, they are 'inclusive' in their thinking. The academic results for 'all' pupils are astounding, they adore being there, are engaged and incredibly happy. When she collects her son from the cinema with his friends, she describes it as a rainbow. Children from all different nations and colours, not hanging together because of the colour of their skin, but because of one common goal. Ingrid is now passionate about tackling unconscious bias, disrupting workforces and creating not just a culture of diversity but cognitively diverse environments.
Please get involved today for a better tomorrow.
